Employee privacy in Sweden

Sammanfattning
This essay deals with employee privacy in Sweden. It takes several articles in the Swedish Constitution as its point of departure. The Constitution provides far-reaching protection in principle of privacy but also allows for statutory derogation under certain, fairly narrowly defined, conditions. Conventions adopted by the European Council also provide protection, i.e. the 1950 European Convention of Human Rights and the 1980 Personal Data Convention. Against this background the article goes on to discuss a wide spectrum of privacy issues. It covers employees both in the private and the public sector.
